An effective negotiator he was Property Manager for Racal Telecommunications/ Global Crossing from 1995 to 2002 where responsibility was held for all aspects of property strategy including acquisition, disposal, new build and operational management. This included the associated aspects of facilities management, security, property taxation issues, insurance and road transport management.

The dimensions of this post covered 150 leased offices and technical sites totalling more than 1,000,000 sq ft, and 1500 telecom co-location installations which required an operational budget of £42M with capital expenditure of up to £14M annually. Here his achievements included the initial testing and commissioning of the Mercury fibre optic cable network, installed alongside the railway, and representing the first use of the technology in the United Kingdom.

By 1992 Peter had been appointed as the Building and Transport Services Manager for BR Telecommunications Ltd, the organisation established to bring commercialisation to rail telecom activities. He determined and implemented strategy to separate telecom property rights between BRT and Railtrack, and compiled and valued the company asset register. He also had the day job of managing the complete property and vehicle portfolio.

In 2003 an independent consultancy was established with a lengthy assignment being carried out for Thales Telecommunications Services to introduce process improvement to the applications design department. Peter has recently been appointed an associate of Vitesse Rail Com Ltd.
