John Hine
- Chief Executive Officer
John Hine founded Computer
Communications Systems Consulting (CompCom), which subsequently became one of
the premier independent information technology consultancy firms in Europe. The
company’s reputation is founded on the successful implementation of solutions
for world-class companies that have included British Gas.
Here he provided the necessary
conceptual thinking to meld a blend of complex technical, commercial, and
business requirements to replace outdated infrastructure relying on proprietary
legacy protocols with open IP architecture. The £26M project achieved complete
success as a result of a carefully constructed blend of implementation by
in-house and externally managed resources. Advice was also provided on change
management and transitional risk by adopting best practice for the delivery of
safety critical services, a very important background so far a railway telecom
solutions are concerned.
As Managing Director of CompCom, John
has led a quality management programme that has ensured continued accreditation
to ISO9001 (formerly BS5750) quality management systems.
John started his career at Scicon,
which at the time was the largest UK software consultancy company and
time-sharing computer bureau. This was after a rigorous 7-year college education
in physics, mathematics, and electronics with, what has now become, BT.
His experience covers the provision of
consultancy services in the USA where he developed and managed communications
and information technology systems that included funds transfer systems in the
global banking sector and trading room systems for the bank’s dealers. For
some time John was based in New York where he was responsible for the
development of worldwide telecommunications systems of a major bank. This role
included line management responsibility for staff and performance management.
Among core skills and experience are
deliverables in successful procurement, management and the delivery of
profitable commercial contracts. John has also demonstrated the ability to
build-up and lead information technology groups in start-up situations.
John’s high level managerial and
technical skills enable him to de-risk high risk projects.
In the current UK rail environment
where strategic decisions covering significant expenditure on railway network
projects (the FTN and GSM-R) are required, he has an invaluable ability to
review project options and optimise value for money solutions to bring bottom
line business benefit.
John has many personal interests that
include motor sport, rugby and skiing and as Chief Executive Officer of Vitesse
Rail Com he brings to the company networking skills at Boardroom level with the
big UK IT and telecom service providers.
